Mon Dec 09 19:25:37 UTC 2024: ## UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Killer Apprehended in Pennsylvania

**New York, NY – December 10, 2024** – A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was shot dead in Manhattan last Wednesday. New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced the arrest, stating that the suspect was apprehended with a weapon consistent with the one used to kill Thompson.

Thompson, 50, was ambushed while walking to his company’s annual investor conference. The attack was described as a “brazen, targeted” shooting, with the assailant seemingly waiting for Thompson before opening fire with a 9mm pistol. The weapon, described as similar to those used by farmers for animal euthanasia, was recovered along with a silencer, fake IDs, and writings critical of the health insurance industry.

The suspect was located after a tip led police to a McDonald’s near Altoona, Pennsylvania. NYPD detectives are en route to Pennsylvania to question the individual. New York City Mayor Eric Adams is expected to address the development later today.

The investigation, which involved a massive search of Central Park including divers and K-9 units, revealed a trail of evidence left by the suspect, including a discarded backpack, a cellphone, and items purchased at a Starbucks before the shooting. Surveillance footage tracked the suspect’s escape route, which involved a bicycle, a taxi, and ultimately a bus from the George Washington Bridge Bus Station.

The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward, in addition to the NYPD’s $10,000 reward, for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Police believe the suspect acted alone. While a motive remains under investigation, authorities have suggested the possibility of the gunman being a disgruntled employee or client. The ammunition found near Thompson’s body bore the words “delay,” “deny,” and “depose,” a phrase often used by insurance industry critics.
