**Hyderabad, December 10, 2024** – K.T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has strongly criticized the unveiling of a new Telangana Talli statue by the Congress government, calling it a disrespect to the state and its people. Speaking at the inauguration of a new BRS party office in Medchal on Monday, Rao compared the unveiling to “killers holding a condolence meeting,” referencing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s past opposition to the Telangana movement.
Rao accused Reddy of altering the image of Telangana Talli, a symbolic figure representing the state, without public demand. He questioned whether the image of Telangana Talli, or even Bharata Mata, should change with every government. He highlighted the removal of the “Bathukamma” element from the new statue as an insult to Telangana’s culture. Rao vowed that if the BRS returns to power, both the new Telangana Talli statue and the Rajiv Gandhi statue located in front of the Secretariat will be moved to the Congress party office, Gandhi Bhavan.
The event also featured comments from Medchal district BRS president and MLC Shambhipur Raju, and Quthbullapur MLA K.P. Vivekanand, who expressed confidence in BRS’s continued support in Greater Hyderabad.
