**Belagavi, Karnataka –** Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched the logo for “Gandhi Bharata,” a year-long celebration commemorating the centenary of the 1924 Belgaum (Belagavi) Congress session chaired by Mahatma Gandhi. The celebrations, beginning December 26th, will feature events across the state until October 2nd, 2025.

A two-day program in Belagavi on December 26th and 27th will kick off the commemorations. The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of the 1924 session as the only one presided over by Gandhi. The events aim to educate the youth about Gandhi’s life, contributions to India’s freedom struggle, and his ideals of truth, non-violence, and social reform.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, along with other ministers, visited historical sites related to Gandhi’s visit to Belagavi, including the Veera Soudha (the session venue) and Gandhi Bhavan. Shivakumar confirmed that a Congress Working Committee meeting will be held at Gandhi Bhavan on December 26th, followed by a public meeting the next day. A photo exhibition showcasing Gandhi’s messages will also be part of the celebrations. The government plans to develop various locations in Karnataka associated with Gandhi’s life and work. The event was attended by numerous dignitaries including ministers, legislators, and officials.
