**Hyderabad, December 10, 2024** – Telangana is launching a major state-level sports competition, the Chief Minister’s Cup, aiming to cultivate Olympic-level athletes. The event, featuring 36 disciplines, begins today at the mandal level and will culminate in a state-level competition from December 27th to January 2nd across six cities: Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Hanamkonda, Medak, Khammam, and Mahabubnagar.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is personally overseeing the event, ensuring its success and aiming to make Telangana a leading sports state. The government is providing extensive support to ensure the competition surpasses previous years. District-level competitions will be held from December 16th to 21st.
A senior official from the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) stated that the Chief Minister’s vision is to produce numerous Olympic medalists. The competition will serve as a talent scout, identifying promising young athletes who will receive long-term training to achieve international success. The official highlighted the high expectations among aspiring athletes for this opportunity.
