Mon Dec 09 20:30:00 UTC 2024: **Wisconsin Badgers Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke Enters Transfer Portal**
MADISON, WI – Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is leaving the program and entering the NCAA transfer portal, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Monday. Van Dyke, a graduate transfer who joined the Badgers last offseason, suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the team’s third game. His departure leaves Wisconsin with four scholarship quarterbacks for the 2025 season: Braedyn Locke, Mabrey Mettauer, Carter Smith, and incoming freshman Landyn Locke.
The move comes amidst uncertainty in the Badgers’ quarterback room following the departure of offensive coordinator Phil Longo. While Braedyn Locke is expected to remain with the team, Van Dyke’s future was unclear following his injury and the coaching change. Head coach Luke Fickell had indicated he would be discussing Van Dyke’s situation.
With Van Dyke’s transfer, Wisconsin is expected to explore the transfer portal to add another quarterback to its roster. This decision is likely contingent on the hiring of a quarterbacks coach. The Badgers finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record.
