Tue Dec 10 06:09:49 UTC 2024: ## Adani-Soros Row Disrupts Indian Parliament; Congress Faces BJP Accusations
**New Delhi, India** – Political tensions escalated in the Indian Parliament this week, fueled by the ongoing Adani-group controversy and accusations linking the Congress party to George Soros. The BJP has aggressively targeted the Congress leadership, alleging connections between the party and Soros-funded organizations aiming to destabilize the Modi government. This has led to disruptions in both houses of Parliament for two consecutive days.
The Congress party initially struggled to respond effectively to the BJP’s attacks. However, a statement from the US government rejecting allegations of Soros using his organizations to destabilize India offered some relief. The BJP, in turn, demanded clarification from the US on whether it supports Soros’ stance against the Modi government.
Emboldened by the US statement, the Congress is adopting a more aggressive stance. Opposition parties are reportedly preparing a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Congress leader Pawan Khera challenged the BJP, demanding an extradition case against Soros if he is indeed a threat, and further questioned the funding sources of various Indian organizations and individuals, including alleged ties to the Adani Group, Espen Institute and German Marshall Fund.
The no-confidence motion against Dhankhar, discussed by Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal, aims to further pressure the ruling BJP. Congress continues to demand a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the Adani Group matter. The BJP, meanwhile, accuses Congress president Sonia Gandhi of links to a Soros-funded organization supporting an independent Kashmir. The ongoing clashes have completely stalled parliamentary proceedings.
