**KOTTAYAM, December 09, 2024** – The Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Kottayam has ordered ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company to pay ₹25,000 in compensation to a policyholder for deficient service. The ruling follows a complaint by Don Paul of Manjoor, who alleged that the company withheld his policy’s maturity amount and improperly deducted TDS. While Paul initially sought ₹1 lakh in compensation and a refund of the deducted amount, the commission awarded ₹25,000 for the mental distress caused, along with an additional ₹3,000 for litigation costs. The three-member bench, headed by V.S. Manulal, found the company liable under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The order was issued on October 30, 2024.
