**Patna, India (December 9, 2024)** – Two SpiceJet flights experienced technical difficulties on Monday, resulting in diversions. A Delhi-Shillong flight (SEJ-2950) was diverted to Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport after a crack developed in the aircraft’s windshield. The flight, carrying approximately 75 passengers, landed safely at 8:52 a.m. Passengers reported being informed that alternative arrangements were being made, including a flight to Guwahati and onward travel to Shillong.
Patna airport director Anchal Prakash confirmed the safe landing and stated that alternative arrangements were being made for the passengers. Passengers described the situation, emphasizing the need for airlines to prioritize safety.
In a separate incident, a SpiceJet Q400 flight from Chennai to Kochi returned to Chennai due to a technical issue. A SpiceJet spokesperson confirmed the safe return and normal deplaning of passengers. They clarified that the windshield crack on the Delhi-Shillong flight was contained to a single layer of the multi-layered windshield and that the diversion was a precautionary measure. The spokesperson emphasized that the landing was normal, pressurization remained stable throughout the flight, and passenger safety was ensured.
