**Panipat, Haryana:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana, a new initiative aimed at empowering women, in Panipat, Haryana on Monday. The scheme will provide training and employment as LIC agents to 35,000 women initially, with plans to expand to 50,000 more.
Participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₹7,000 in the first year, ₹6,000 in the second, and ₹5,000 in the third, along with commission-based incentives upon meeting targets. The three-year training program is open to women aged 18-70 who have completed their 10th standard. Applicants can register online or at nearby LIC branches, providing necessary documents such as age proof, address proof, and their 10th-grade certificate.
PM Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment over the past decade. He stated that the scheme will not only provide livelihoods for rural women but also enhance insurance penetration in underserved areas. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present at the launch event.
LIC, India’s largest insurance company established in 1956, boasts a vast network of agents and branches. This new initiative aims to further strengthen its reach and contribute significantly to women’s economic independence.
