**Damascus, Syria –** In a stunning turn of events, the Assad regime has collapsed after a week-long offensive by a coalition of Syrian opposition forces. President Bashar al-Assad has reportedly fled the country, leaving Damascus under the control of the opposition. Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali remains in Damascus, stating his cabinet is willing to cooperate with the opposition to facilitate a transition to a new government. HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Julani has pledged to maintain the functioning of public institutions under the Prime Minister’s supervision until a formal handover.

Damascus witnessed jubilant scenes, with opposition fighters firing into the air and citizens toppling statues of Hafez al-Assad. The opposition has also released prisoners from regime jails, including the notorious Sednaya prison.
