**Bengaluru, December 8, 2024** – Bengaluru police have apprehended Asif, a 33-year-old habitual offender, who had evaded capture for over a decade. Asif, wanted in connection with at least six criminal cases, was arrested on Sunday by the Halasuru Gate police.
Asif had initially gained notoriety for stealing high-end motorcycles to impress women, later escalating to burglaries and robberies to fund his lifestyle. He was arrested in 2014 but subsequently jumped bail and remained at large, changing his identity to avoid detection.
Acting on a tip, police launched a two-month undercover operation, posing as autorickshaw drivers to track Asif, who had been working as one under an assumed name. His arrest marks the successful culmination of a prolonged manhunt.
