**Chennai, December 8, 2024** – Gutha Krishnan Selvarajan (GKS) has been installed as the 19th Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of India (GLI), succeeding Anish Kumar Sharma. The ceremony, held this weekend at the Chennai Trade Centre, drew freemasons from lodges across the country.
GKS, a prominent lawyer and entrepreneur with a 42-year association with freemasonry, is known for his multifaceted career and contributions to the organization. His accomplishments include spearheading the restoration of the Freemasons’ hall at Ethiraj Salai in 2000, a project that led to a lodge being named in his honor, Lodge G.K. SELVARAJAN No. 365.
During his tenure as Regional Grand Master of Southern India (2005-2008), GKS implemented innovative administrative strategies, including the introduction of Area Meetings to improve lodge performance and strengthen brotherhood. He also established the “Officer-in-Charge” position for superior degrees to streamline administration. These initiatives have been adopted by other regions.
GKS is also recognized for his exceptional knowledge of freemason rituals and his long-standing involvement with the Rotary movement. His leadership will guide the GLI from 2024 to 2027.
