**Patna, Bihar:** Prominent Bihar-based educationist and YouTuber, Khan Sir, was hospitalized on December 7th, 2024, following a controversy surrounding false reports of his arrest. The incident unfolded after Khan Sir’s presence at a protest by BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) exam candidates against normalization policies.
On December 6th, rumors of Khan Sir’s arrest spread rapidly on social media, fueled by a photo circulating on the “Khan Global Studies” social media account, allegedly showing him in police custody. This led to heightened tensions. However, Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra quickly refuted these claims, stating that Khan Sir was neither arrested nor detained. He clarified that Khan Sir had visited the Gardnibagh police station on Friday evening after meeting with protesters and then left in a police vehicle to his own car nearby.
Following the widespread dissemination of false arrest reports, Patna police initiated legal action against the “Khan Global Studies” account for spreading misinformation. The account, believed to be managed by Khan Sir’s team, subsequently removed the photo that sparked the rumors. An SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) officer, Anu Kumari, confirmed that Khan Sir was merely escorted to his car by police from the station.
The incident occurred amidst ongoing protests by BPSC exam candidates against proposed normalization changes. Police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse a large group of protestors near the BPSC office in Patna on December 7th. The BPSC, however, denies any changes to the examination process. Khan Sir’s hospitalization adds another layer to this already tense situation. His current condition is reported to be stable.
