**New Delhi, December 8, 2024** – A group of 101 farmers will begin a peaceful march to Delhi on Sunday, resuming their protest after clashes with Haryana police on Friday. The “Dilli Chalo” march was initially suspended following the clashes, where tear gas was used to disperse the crowd. Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) coordinator Sarwan Singh Pandher reported that 16 farmers were injured, with one suffering hearing loss due to the tear gas. The farmers’ demands include a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all crops, farm loan waivers, pensions for farmers and farm laborers, and a ban on power tariff hikes. They also seek the reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, and compensation for farmers who died during the 2020-21 protests. Pandher criticized both the ruling BJP and the opposition, stating that neither party is willing to engage in meaningful dialogue. The farmers attempted similar marches on February 13th and 21st but were stopped at the Punjab-Haryana border. The march from Ambala, where prohibitory orders are in place, comes despite a lack of communication from the central government regarding the farmers’ demands.
