Sun Dec 08 11:08:04 UTC 2024: ## Australia Hammer India in Second ODI, Take Unassailable Series Lead

**Brisbane, Australia –** Australia thrashed India by 122 runs in the second One Day International (ODI) in Brisbane on Sunday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The hosts posted a mammoth 371/8, their highest ever ODI total against India, thanks to stunning centuries from Georgia Voll (101 off 87 balls) and Ellyse Perry (105 off 75 balls). This marked Voll’s maiden ODI century in only her second match, while Perry’s century was her third, and also saw her surpass 4000 ODI runs, becoming only the fourth Australian woman to achieve this milestone. Her innings also saw her reach the remarkable double of 7000 international runs and 300 wickets, a first for any female cricketer.

Phoebe Litchfield (60) and Beth Mooney (56) also contributed significantly to Australia’s dominant batting display, which left India’s bowling attack reeling. Saima Thakor was the pick of the Indian bowlers with 3/62.

In response, India were bowled out for 249 in 44.5 overs. Richa Ghosh top-scored with 54, but Jemimah Rodrigues (43) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (38) failed to convert promising starts. Annabel Sutherland spearheaded Australia’s bowling attack, claiming 4/38. Minnu Mani’s unbeaten 46 offered little consolation.

The crushing defeat represents India’s worst ever bowling performance in a Women’s ODI. The final match of the series will be played on Wednesday at the WACA.
