Sun Dec 08 12:51:03 UTC 2024: ## Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team Thrills Hyderabad with Surprise Rehearsal
**Hyderabad, December 6, 2024** – Hyderabad residents were treated to an unexpected aerial display on Thursday evening as the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) conducted low-flying rehearsal maneuvers over the city. The team, known as the “Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force,” is preparing for a public air show scheduled for Sunday, December 8th, near Hussainsagar Lake.
Witnesses reported seeing the jets performing stunts at low altitudes, causing a stir among onlookers. Sridhar, a Kachiguda resident, described hearing a loud noise and witnessing two jets performing maneuvers before climbing to higher altitudes. Another resident, Aakash, a college student, recounted seeing the jets from the Durgam Cheruvu bridge but was unable to capture them on video before they disappeared.
The rehearsals, which will continue on Friday, weather permitting, are a prelude to the Sunday air show, which will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The SKAT, formed in 1996 and based at Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka, comprises 13 pilots, with nine participating in each demonstration. Recently, the team’s Hawk Mk 132 aircraft have been upgraded with indigenous smoke pods, adding a colorful spectacle to their already impressive routines. The team has performed at numerous air shows across India and internationally.
