Leclerc’s impressive lap of 1:24.321, ahead of Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, was overshadowed by a new battery requiring the penalty.
The penalty is a significant blow to Ferrari’s hopes of overtaking McLaren for second place in the championship standings.
