Sun Dec 08 15:51:02 UTC 2024: ## Patna Educators Not Detained Despite BPSC Protest, Police Say

**Patna, Bihar** – Reports of the detention of popular Patna educators Faizal Khan (“Khan Sir”) and Motiur Rahman (“Guru Rahman”) following a protest against the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam’s proposed normalization process have been dismissed by police as “baseless and misleading.”

The educators, known for their coaching centers, participated in Friday’s protests against the BPSC’s plan to normalize scores in the upcoming December 13th preliminary examination. While a magistrate initially suggested the educators had left with police, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anu Kumari clarified that neither Khan Sir nor Guru Rahman were detained. However, police did confirm the detention of over half a dozen students involved in the demonstration.

The protests prompted the BPSC to release a notification suspending its normalization plan. The preliminary exam will now be conducted in a single shift, as originally advertised, avoiding the need for score adjustments. Approximately 4.25 lakh students are expected to take the exam. The normalization process, a statistical method used to adjust scores across different exam shifts, is commonly employed in exams such as NEET-UG.
