**PALM SPRINGS, CA** – A Palm Springs police officer attempting a motorcycle trick during the city’s Festival of Lights Parade severely injured himself and at least nine others on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. along the parade route.
Witnesses report the officer lost control of his motorcycle while performing a stunt, severing his hand in the process. The motorcycle, separated from the officer, continued into the crowd, injuring multiple bystanders.
Ten individuals, including the officer, were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a city statement. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently investigating the incident and has requested any video or photographic evidence from the public be submitted to PSCityGovernmentMedia@palmspringsca.gov.
