**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Dec 8, 2024** – Kerala is set to hold by-elections for 31 local body wards on December 9th, according to State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan. Polling will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with vote counting scheduled for December 11th.

A total of 102 candidates, including 50 women, are contesting the by-elections across 11 districts. These include three municipality wards, one district panchayat ward, four block panchayat wards, and 23 grama panchayat wards. 192 polling booths have been set up for the 151,055 registered voters (79,087 women, 71,967 men, and one transgender voter).

Voters can use various forms of photo identification, including EPIC, passport, driving license, Aadhaar card, PAN card, photo-affixed SSLC book, or a photo-affixed bank passbook (issued within six months). Indelible ink will be applied to the middle finger of the left hand to avoid confusion with previous elections.
