**Belagavi, December 8, 2024** – A massive 200 sq ft painting depicting the Anubhava Mantapa, a 12th-century spiritual and political discussion center, will be unveiled at the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi on Monday. The unveiling, by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, coincides with the first day of the Winter Session of the Karnataka legislature.
The artwork, commissioned by the chairman of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, B.L. Shankar, portrays prominent figures of the era, including Basaveshwara, Allama Prabhu, Akka Mahadevi, and other Sharanas, engaged in lively debate. Speaker U.T. Khadar described the painting as an inspiration for upholding democratic principles and a just society, highlighting the Anubhava Mantapa’s significance as a precursor to modern parliamentary systems.
The painting is the work of a team of artists from across Karnataka, including Satish Rao, Shrikant Hegde, Ashok U., Rupa M.R., Veeranna Madivalappa Babli, and Mahesh Ningappa. It aims to visually represent the vibrant intellectual and political discussions that took place at the Anubhava Mantapa in Basava Kalyan.
