Sat Dec 07 01:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Uttar Pradesh Braces for Cold Snap and Fog as Temperatures Plummet

**Lucknow, [Date]** – A significant drop in temperatures across Uttar Pradesh has prompted the meteorological department to issue a fog alert. Over the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures in several districts have fallen by one to two degrees Celsius, with further decreases predicted in the next 24 to 48 hours. Maximum temperatures are also expected to drop by two to three degrees.

Dense to moderate fog is forecast for several districts, including Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Rampur, Pilibhit, Budaun, Sambhal, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gonda, Bahraich, Gorakhpur, and Basti.

Kanpur experienced a sharp temperature decline on Friday, with the minimum temperature reaching 9.7°C and the maximum at 26°C, driven by strong north-westerly winds. The weather department anticipates increased cloud cover and a possibility of rain on Sunday and Monday. The city saw a significant 3.4-degree drop in maximum temperature and a 4-degree drop in minimum temperature compared to Wednesday.

Agra is also expected to see foggy conditions starting Sunday, with a potential increase in chill. The city already experienced a three-degree drop in minimum temperature on Friday.

The sudden temperature shift, especially in Muzaffarnagar, has led to a resurgence of fog and a rise in cold-related illnesses, with increased patient numbers reported at the district hospital. Doctors are attributing the rise in respiratory and other ailments to the fluctuating weather conditions. While the daytime temperature remains relatively mild, the significant drop at night is causing concern.

The weather department advises residents to take necessary precautions against the cold and fog. The situation will be closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as needed.
