**Toronto, ON** – The WNBA announced the name and logo of its newest franchise, the Toronto Tempo, set to debut in 2026. The team, owned by Kilmer Sports Ventures (also owners of the Toronto Raptors, Maple Leafs, and FC), was awarded to Toronto in May. The name, chosen through a public outreach campaign involving over 10,000 people, reflects the city’s vibrant energy and pace.

Team president Teresa Resch stated that “Tempo is pace. It’s speed. It’s a heartbeat,” mirroring the city’s dynamism. The logo features a stylized “T” within a circle, with six lines symbolizing the five players and the fans. Resch emphasized the team’s commitment to creating an exciting in-game experience, capturing “the sounds of the court, the beat of the music, the passion of the fans.”

The Toronto Tempo will become the league’s 14th team, following the Golden State Valkyries’ entry in 2025. The franchise’s arrival marks a significant expansion for the WNBA into Canada.
