**New Delhi, December 7, 2024** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant expansion of school education infrastructure and improved connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Union Cabinet approved the establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) – central government schools – across India, along with 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas (NV) – residential schools. This expansion is projected to benefit over 82,000 students and create numerous job opportunities.

The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy’s goal of making quality education accessible to all, PM Modi stated. The project will require a total investment of ₹5,872.08 crore over eight years (2025-26). Currently, there are 1,256 KVs operating, educating 13.56 lakh students.

In addition to the educational expansion, the Cabinet also greenlit the Rithala-Kundli corridor of the Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV project. This 21-station elevated line will enhance connectivity between Delhi and Haryana, improving commuting options for residents of both states.
