**Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 6, 2024** – Latha V., a Kudumbashree farmer from Kottukal, Kerala, has won a national award for her Karthika Chips unit at the Aajeevika Saras mela in New Delhi. Her stall was recognized for its diverse product range, attractive presentation, and impressive sales, achieving a turnover of ₹10 lakh during the two-week trade fair.
Latha’s success highlights the entrepreneurial spirit fostered by the Kudumbashree program. Her chips, made from homegrown produce including banana, yam, and tapioca, were a significant draw. The unit also sold value-added products like unniappam, jackfruit chips, and jam, showcasing the versatility of local ingredients. The attractive packaging and branding further contributed to the unit’s success.
This achievement is not just Latha’s individual triumph but also a testament to the success of the Kudumbashree program. Kudumbashree also secured two other awards at the fair, including first place for their food court. The collective turnover for all Kudumbashree entries at the fair reached ₹52.53 lakh.
