**Hyderabad, December 7, 2024** – B. Lakshmi, a 63-year-old retired director of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), was arrested on Friday by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Central Crime Station, Hyderabad, on charges of financial fraud. The arrest follows a complaint filed in March by an ASCI administrative officer, B. Jagadesh Kumar.
According to the complaint and subsequent investigation, Dr. Lakshmi allegedly orchestrated a scheme between 2021 and 2024, resulting in significant financial losses to ASCI’s Bella Vista Campus. She is accused of creating fraudulent invoices in the names of acquaintances, forging resumes and signatures to falsely present them as experts in ASCI training programs, and then facilitating the transfer of substantial funds to their accounts. These funds were subsequently withdrawn and given to Dr. Lakshmi for personal use.
The investigation revealed the involvement of Dr. Lakshmi’s personal assistant, M. Ravi Kumar, and other unnamed accomplices. Dr. Lakshmi, a resident of Dollar Hills, Manikonda, has been remanded in judicial custody. The DCP of the Detective Department, CCS, confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the embezzlement and identify any further individuals involved. The charges against Dr. Lakshmi include cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, impersonation, and conspiracy.
