NEW DELHI, Dec 7, 2024 – The Indian government approved a new 26.463 km Delhi Metro corridor connecting Rithala to Nathupur (Kundli) in Haryana, significantly improving connectivity between the two regions. The ₹6,230 crore project, part of Phase IV, will be implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and is expected to be completed within four years.
The elevated corridor, featuring 21 stations (listed in the original text), will extend the existing Red Line, enhancing connectivity in Northwest Delhi and linking Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Haryana. This marks Delhi Metro’s fourth extension into Haryana, adding to its existing reach in Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh.
The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR). The overall Phase IV project, encompassing 65.202 km and 45 stations, is over 56% complete and is slated for phased completion by March 2026. Two additional corridors are also in the pre-tendering phase. Currently, the Delhi Metro network operates 12 lines, totaling approximately 392 km with 288 stations, serving an average of 6.4 million passengers daily.
