Fri Dec 06 23:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Allahabad High Court Rejects Pawan Khera’s Plea to Dismiss Defamation Case

**Lucknow, December 7, 2024** – The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Congress leader Pawan Khera challenging the rejection of his request to drop a defamation case against him. The case stems from alleged derogatory remarks Khera made in February 2023 concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father and his purported links to major industrialists.

The court’s decision, delivered on December 3rd and uploaded on Thursday, means Khera will now face trial. Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan rejected Khera’s plea, stating that he should proceed to trial. The government advocate argued that previous similar petitions by Khera had been dismissed and this petition largely reiterated the same arguments.

Multiple FIRs were filed against Khera in February 2023 in Varanasi, Lucknow, and Assam following his comments. The Supreme Court subsequently transferred all cases to the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow. Following investigation, a chargesheet was filed, leading to Khera’s petition to the High Court, which has now been rejected.
