Fri Dec 06 11:07:21 UTC 2024: ## Tamil Nadu Offers Increased Subsidies for Farm Mechanization in Virudhunagar
**Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, December 6, 2024** – The Tamil Nadu government is boosting farm mechanization in Virudhunagar district by offering increased subsidies on power tillers and power weeders. According to a statement released by Virudhunagar Collector V. P. Jeyaseelan, the Department of Agricultural Engineering aims to increase farm production and farmers’ net income through this initiative.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s earlier announcement of subsidies for 4,000 power tillers and an equal number of power weeders is now enhanced with additional support for small and marginal farmers, and those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST).
These farmers will receive a maximum subsidy of ₹1.68 lakh for power tillers (an additional 20% subsidy on top of the initial subsidy) and ₹88,200 for power weeders. Other farmers will receive a 40% subsidy on the government’s maximum fixed price or wholesale price, whichever is lower.
Small and marginal farmers from the open category will also receive an additional 10% subsidy on power weeders, reducing their contribution. Farmers can pay their share of the cost online via RTGS or NEFT, or through a demand draft to the supplier.
Contact information for further details has been provided by the Department of Agricultural Engineering. The initiative is a significant step towards modernizing agriculture in the region and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
