Fri Dec 06 10:28:59 UTC 2024: ## India Crumbles Against Starc’s Six-Wicket Haul in Adelaide Test

**Adelaide, Australia –** Mitchell Starc spearheaded Australia’s dominant performance on day one of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India, claiming a stunning six-wicket haul as India were bowled out for a paltry 180 runs. The Australian pace attack exploited favorable conditions at the Adelaide Oval, leaving India reeling under the lights.

Starc’s devastating spell began with the dismissal of in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on the very first ball of the pink-ball Test. He later returned to remove key batsmen KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, effectively dismantling India’s top order. While Nitish Kumar Reddy offered some resistance, Starc’s accuracy, along with contributions from Scott Boland (who took three wickets), proved too much for the Indian batsmen. Rishabh Pant’s late cameo added some respectability to the total, but India’s innings was a major disappointment.

Despite a promising start from openers Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, including a boundary from Rahul off Cummins, India’s innings faltered dramatically after losing key wickets in quick succession. The loss of Rohit Sharma, lbw to Boland, proved a critical turning point.

Australia, in reply, reached 24 for 1 at the close of play, Usman Khawaja being dismissed by Bumrah. The match, under a partly cloudy sky with a forecast of possible showers, remains finely poised. India, currently leading the series 1-0, will hope to regroup and mount a stronger challenge in their second innings. The Hindu’s K.C. Vijaya Kumar provided live updates from the ground.
