Thu Dec 05 16:10:42 UTC 2024: ## ISRO Delays PSLV-C59 Launch by a Day

**Chennai, India:** The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced a one-day postponement of the PSLV-C59 launch, originally scheduled for Wednesday. The launch, carrying the European Space Agency’s (ESA) PROBA-3 mission, will now take place on Thursday at 4:12 PM IST.

ISRO cited a technical issue as the reason for the delay. The countdown was halted minutes before the scheduled launch time of 4:08 PM IST on Wednesday.

PSLV-C59 is carrying two satellites, the Occulter and the Coronagraph, for the PROBA-3 mission, which aims to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere. This mission is a continuation of the PROBA-1 (launched in 2001) and PROBA-2 (launched in 2009) missions, with PROBA-1 also launched by ISRO. Thursday’s launch will mark the 61st mission of the PSLV rocket. The two PROBA-3 satellites will be positioned in a close formation to function as a single unit in orbit.
