**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Lakhs of followers of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar have converged on Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai ahead of the 68th anniversary of his Mahaparinirvana (death), on December 6th. For several days before this significant date, devotees have arrived from across India, many traveling long distances on whatever transport they could find.

Despite the cold and often arduous journeys, people of all ages, including women, men, children, and the elderly, are gathered at the memorial site to pay their respects to the revered social reformer. Some have set up makeshift cooking areas, prioritizing their homage over immediate comforts. One devotee from Uttar Pradesh, Vijaylaxmi Gautam, explained that she and 14 others had arrived on December 3rd and have been camping in the park for the past 7 years. Another devotee from Nagpur shared that they make the journey every year for the past 5 years.

Chaitya Bhoomi, located in Dadar, is the memorial site built where Dr. Ambedkar’s ashes were interred. Every year, the site witnesses a massive gathering of his followers to commemorate his life and legacy. This year is no different, with the sheer number of attendees highlighting the enduring reverence for the architect of the Indian Constitution.
