Thu Dec 05 18:47:18 UTC 2024: ## Madhya Pradesh Faces Fertilizer Shortage Amidst Minister’s Controversial Remarks
**Bhopal, MP:** Reports of fertilizer shortages are emerging from various districts across Madhya Pradesh. When questioned about the ongoing crisis, Agriculture Minister, Adel Singh Kanshana, controversially downplayed the issue, stating that the distribution is handled by cooperatives and challenged reporters to specify the locations experiencing difficulties. He attributed large gatherings of farmers seeking fertilizer to logistical challenges rather than actual shortages, dismissing opposition claims as politically motivated.
Kanshana stated that when fertilizer isn’t available at one shop, farmers congregate at others, resulting in groups of 50-100 people. He argued this isn’t problematic, and called on critics to identify specific districts facing shortages, adding that it falls under the purview of the Fertilizers Department.
Leader of the Opposition, Umang Singhar, sharply criticized Kanshana’s response, calling it a display of ignorance and demanding his resignation. Singhar highlighted the widespread nature of the complaints across the state, accusing the minister of willful blindness to the plight of farmers struggling to secure fertilizer and fair soybean prices. He challenged the minister to release a bulletin proving adequate fertilizer supply and questioned his apparent disregard for the reported conflicts arising from the shortages. The opposition alleges that the government is deliberately hindering access to fertilizer and fair prices for farmers.
