**Chennai, December 5, 2024** – Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi called on students pursuing higher education abroad to serve as ambassadors for India upon their return. Speaking at a scholarship distribution ceremony in Chennai on Wednesday, he urged recipients to contribute to the nation after completing their studies.
The scholarships, titled “Ungal kuzhandayum aagalam engineer” (Your child can also become an engineer), are provided by Sumangala Steels. The program supports children of construction workers pursuing engineering and diploma courses. According to Ashwin Sabanayagam, President and Director of Sumangala Steels, the scholarships are awarded to students who achieved over 70% in Class XII and whose parents earn less than ₹4 lakh annually.
