Thu Dec 05 11:38:14 UTC 2024: ## Supreme Court Relaxes Delhi Air Pollution Restrictions
**New Delhi, December 5, 2024** – The Supreme Court today eased anti-pollution restrictions in the National Capital Region (NCR), downgrading the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) from Stage IV to Stage II. The decision follows reports of improved Air Quality Index (AQI) levels, which have fallen below 300 since November 30th due to favorable meteorological conditions.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) informed the court of the AQI improvement. However, the court mandated that GRAP Stage III restrictions be implemented immediately if the AQI rises above 350, and GRAP Stage IV be reinstated if it surpasses 400. The court will revisit the case next Thursday, December 12th. The justices emphasized the precautionary nature of this decision, stressing the importance of swift action to mitigate worsening air quality.
