Wed Dec 04 10:10:19 UTC 2024: **BJP MLA Yatnal Accuses Karnataka Government of Vindictive Politics in Yediyurappa Corruption Case**

BELAGAVI, KARNATAKA – November 29, 2024 – Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, a BJP MLA and outspoken critic of former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, has accused the Karnataka State government of engaging in vindictive politics. Yatnal criticized the government’s request to the Governor to reconsider the rejection of prosecution permission for an inquiry into corruption allegations against Yediyurappa.

Yatnal, considered a leader within a faction of disgruntled BJP members, claims the government’s action is motivated by spite and points to the timing, coinciding with corruption allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He questioned why the request was made now, after Yediyurappa’s retirement from active politics, suggesting it’s linked to a shift in the political dynamics between Siddaramaiah and Yediyurappa.

Furthermore, Yatnal stated he would continue his anti-waqf rallies, even those running concurrently with protests organized by Yediyurappa’s son and BJP State president, B.Y. Vijayendra. He declared himself a supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fight against family politics and corruption, vowing to oppose such practices regardless of party affiliation.

Regarding potential plans by the BJP high command to replace Vijayendra with Union Minister V. Somanna, Yatnal expressed non-opposition but conditioned his support on Somanna taking action against Yediyurappa and Vijayendra for their alleged role in his electoral defeat in Tumakuru. He also stated that he would only respond to criticism from individuals he considers his equals, and he would only go to Delhi to explain his criticisms if all the discontented BJP leaders were invited simultaneously.
