Wed Dec 04 06:49:51 UTC 2024: ## Former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal Escapes Unharmed in Golden Temple Shooting
**Amritsar, Punjab –** A shocking incident unfolded today at the Golden Temple in Amritsar where Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), was the target of a shooting. While performing community service (“sewa”) at the temple entrance, Badal, who was seated in a wheelchair, was approached by a man who opened fire. The bullet, however, missed Badal and struck a nearby wall.
Witnesses reported seeing the assailant, identified as Narain Singh, approach Badal and produce a firearm before being apprehended by bystanders. Badal, dressed in the blue uniform of a temple volunteer, was unharmed in the incident.
Police have taken Narain Singh into custody and are currently investigating the motive behind the attack. Visuals from the scene show the chaotic moments following the gunshot. The investigation is ongoing.
