**Amritsar, Punjab** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha has strongly condemned the attack on former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal outside the Golden Temple. Chadha stated that violence has no place in a civilized society and expressed relief that Badal escaped unharmed. He specifically praised the Punjab Police for their swift action in apprehending the attacker and ensuring Badal’s safety.
The attacker, identified as Narayan Singh Chaura, has links to the Babbar Khalsa International and was released from prison in 2018 after serving time for explosives smuggling. Chaura reportedly fled to Pakistan in 1984.
While questions have been raised about Punjab’s law and order situation under the Bhagwant Mann government, Chadha defended the state police, crediting them with a successful strategy that prevented Badal from sustaining any injuries. He stated that the police are investigating all aspects of the attack.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has termed the incident a conspiracy aimed at defaming Punjab and its people. The swift arrest of the accused has been highlighted as a positive response by the state government.
