Wed Dec 04 11:54:11 UTC 2024: ## ISRO Delays Proba-3 Solar Mission Launch by One Day
**Sriharikota, India – December 4, 2024** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced a one-day postponement of the Proba-3 mission launch, originally scheduled for today. The launch of the joint ESA-ISRO mission aboard the PSLV-C59 rocket will now occur on Thursday, December 5th, at 4:12 PM IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
The delay is attributed to an unspecified anomaly detected in the Proba-3 spacecraft. ISRO has not yet detailed the nature of the problem.
Proba-3 is a groundbreaking mission employing two satellites, the Coronagraph and Occulter spacecraft, to create a unique solar coronagraph. This advanced formation-flying technology will allow scientists to study the Sun’s corona without the interference of its bright disk, offering unprecedented insights into solar dynamics. The satellites will be placed in a highly elliptical orbit, ranging from 600 to 60,530 kilometers, enabling continuous observations for up to six hours.
The mission marks a significant milestone in international space collaboration and underscores India’s increasing contribution to global space exploration. The successful deployment of Proba-3 is expected to pave the way for future advancements in space technology and solar research.
