**Puri, Odisha –** The Indian Navy will conduct a major operational demonstration (Op Demo) off the coast of Puri, Odisha, on Wednesday as the centerpiece of its Navy Day 2024 celebrations. President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the event, hosted by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. The display will showcase the Navy’s strength and technological capabilities.
The impressive show of force will involve naval units totaling 90,000 tonnes, equipped with advanced weapons and sensors capable of neutralizing threats across air, surface, and sub-surface domains within a 300km radius. Over 3,500 personnel will be deployed at sea, supported by 350 personnel ashore.
This marks only the second time the Indian Navy has staged such a large-scale event outside a major naval base, highlighting the significance of the Puri demonstration. The event will underscore India’s commitment to “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) by showcasing indigenous, state-of-the-art technology. The Navy aims to further solidify its role as the preferred security partner and first responder in the Indian Ocean Region, in line with its SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision. The Odisha Governor, Chief Minister, and other Union and State Ministers, along with military dignitaries, will also be in attendance.
