Sharjah, UAE – India’s Under-19 cricket team secured a dominant 211-run victory over the UAE in their final Group A match of the Asia Cup, booking their place in the semi-finals. The win follows a previous loss to Pakistan, but India’s superior head-to-head record against the UAE proved decisive.
Openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi (a 32-ball fifty including four sixes) and Ayush Mhatre (a 38-ball fifty) spearheaded India’s chase, putting on a century partnership and laying the foundation for a comfortable victory. Their aggressive batting display left the UAE bowlers struggling. India reached their target with ease, chasing down the modest total in under 20 overs.
Earlier, the UAE’s innings had collapsed after a promising start. Indian spinners Hardik Raj and Karthikeya KP were particularly effective, restricting the UAE to a low total of 74/5 in 20 overs. Yudhajit Guha also impressed, taking multiple wickets with brilliant deliveries. A run-out by Ayush Mhatre further contributed to the UAE’s downfall. Rayan Khan top-scored for the UAE with 35 runs.
With this victory, India joins Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the semi-finals. Pakistan, having beaten both India and the UAE, also secured a semi-final berth. The remaining semi-final spot from Group A went to India.
