Wed Dec 04 11:22:47 UTC 2024: **Honda Launches Facelifted Amaze, Featuring Segment-First ADAS**

NEW DELHI – Honda Cars India launched a facelifted version of its entry-level sedan, the Amaze, on Wednesday. The updated model boasts significant design and feature upgrades, setting it up for a direct competition with the Maruti Dzire, another top-selling sedan in India.

A key differentiator is the inclusion of Honda Sensing, an Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), a first in its segment. This system, already featured in Honda City and Elevate models, includes features like adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and lane-keep assist, enhancing safety significantly. The ADAS incorporates a comprehensive camera system covering the front and rear of the vehicle, and also addresses blind spots with a side-mirror camera setup.

Other upgrades include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (standard), a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, and a 2.5 HEPA filter. The ADAS features are available on the higher two trims. The redesigned Amaze features a bolder front grille, LED headlights and taillights, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Boot space has been increased to 416 liters. The car is available in six colors.

Under the hood, the Amaze retains a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, offering both 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options with paddle shifters. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 18.65 kmpl for the manual and 19.46 kmpl for the automatic variant. Power output is rated at 90 hp and 110 Nm of torque.

The new Amaze is priced starting at ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and is available in three trims (V, VX, and ZX). Bookings are open, test drives are available from today, and deliveries are expected to commence next month. While the Amaze lacks a sunroof, a feature present in the Dzire, Honda emphasizes the superior safety features offered by its ADAS suite. The price war between the two popular sedans is expected to intensify following this launch.
