**NEW DELHI** – Honda Cars India today unveiled the 2024 Honda Amaze, the third generation of its popular compact sedan, at a starting price of ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec variant reaches ₹10.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The Amaze boasts a significant upgrade, most notably becoming the most affordable car in India to offer Honda Sensing, the brand’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
This makes Honda the only automaker in India with a complete ADAS-equipped portfolio, encompassing models like the City, Elevate, and now the Amaze. While the powertrain remains the same – a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine generating 90PS and 110Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed MT or CVT automatic transmission – refinements promise an improved driving experience. Fuel efficiency is rated at 19.46kmpl for the CVT and 18.65kmpl for the MT.
Available in three variants (V, VX, and ZX), the Amaze offers a range of features including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch TFT semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a PM 2.5 air purifier, and a six-speaker audio system. Safety features are comprehensive, including six airbags, vehicle stability assist, and electronic stability control, all standard across the range. The Amaze also boasts a spacious 416-liter boot.
Exterior updates include new LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, a bold new grille, and City-inspired LED taillamps. Inside, a premium dual-tone beige and black interior and segment-first headrests for all passengers enhance comfort. The Amaze is also a connected car, offering over 37 features through Honda Connect with a complimentary 5-year subscription.
The 2024 Amaze directly competes with models like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor, aiming to make inroads into a segment currently dominated by the Dzire (61% market share). Honda is offering two accessory packages and an extendable 10-year warranty. The company claims the Amaze contributes 40% of its overall Indian sales, having sold nearly 5.80 lakh units since its launch in 2013.
