**New York, NY –** Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested and charged with the double murder of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs (35), and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne (33). Fakhri is accused of setting fire to a two-story garage in Queens, New York, where the victims were sleeping, on November 2nd. Both Jacobs and Ettienne perished from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Fakhri arrived at the garage early in the morning and shouted threats before the fire erupted. They confirmed that Jacobs and Fakhri were involved in an on-again, off-again relationship, and that Jacobs, a plumber, left behind four children. Despite her friends’ characterization, sources claim that Nargis Fakhri, the famous Bollywood actress, has been estranged from her sister for over 20 years and has not been in contact with her. Attempts by NDTV to reach Nargis and Aliya’s mother, Marie Fakhri, were unsuccessful. While a neighbor described Marie as friendly, Marie reportedly denied the charges against her daughter, claiming Aliya was a caring person.
Aliya Fakhri has been indicted on four counts of murder in the first degree, four counts of murder in the second degree, and arson. She faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if convicted on the top charge and is scheduled to appear in court on December 9th. The incident has left friends and neighbors shocked, and the house where the incident occurred remains a crime scene.
