Wed Dec 04 03:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Theatre Group Revives Popular Play Exploring Death and Rebirth

**Bengaluru, December 4, 2024** – Yuvashree, a Bengaluru-based amateur theatre troupe, is bringing back its acclaimed play, *Ondu Vilaya Kathe* (*A Village Story*), for an eighth showing at Ranga Shankara. Written and directed by Sharath Parvathavani, a prominent Kannada and English writer and actor, the play explores themes of death, rebirth, and the duality of the human mind.

Originally conceived as a short piece for the Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival in 2021, the play gained unexpected intensity after the passing of popular actor Puneeth Rajkumar just before its premiere. Parvathavani, inspired by his reading on death, used the theatre’s staircase to create a visually striking performance. Expanding the short piece into a full-length play proved challenging, requiring the creation of two interwoven storylines that only converge at the climax.

Parvathavani notes the play’s suitability for children over ten, suggesting that understanding death is crucial for this age group, helping them process grief and loss. The cast includes Apeksha Ghalgi, Siddharth Bhat, Vijay Kulkarni, Sujay Channagiri, Akhila R. Rao, Charith Bharadwaj, and Sumith Bekal. Tickets are available at the Ranga Shankara box office and on BookMyShow. The next performance is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
