Wed Dec 04 07:28:28 UTC 2024: ## Bangladesh Clinches Historic Test Victory in West Indies

**St. Lucia:** Bangladesh created history, securing their first Test victory in the Caribbean in 15 years with a resounding 101-run triumph over the West Indies in the second Test at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. This marks Bangladesh’s third Test win of the year.

Chasing a challenging 287-run target, the West Indies were bowled out for 185 in their second innings. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam played a pivotal role, claiming a five-wicket haul (5/50), his 15th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. While Kraigg Brathwaite (43) and Kavem Hodge (55) offered some resistance, Taijul’s crucial breakthroughs sealed the memorable victory for Bangladesh on the fourth day.

The win levels the two-match series 1-1 and boosts Bangladesh to eighth position in the ICC World Test Championship table. The last time Bangladesh won a Test in the Caribbean was in July 2009.

“Winning a Test match abroad is a great feeling, it’s not something we experience often, so it’s special,” said player of the match Taijul Islam. “All the players played brilliantly.”

Both Taskin Ahmed (Bangladesh) and Jayden Seales (West Indies) were jointly awarded the Player of the Series for their outstanding bowling performances throughout the series. Ahmed commented on his comeback from injury and the improvement of Bangladesh’s pace bowling attack in recent years, while Seales highlighted his focus on consistency and aggressive bowling.
