**VIJAYAWADA, December 2, 2024** – Film director Ram Gopal Varma has been granted interim protection from arrest by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The order, issued on Monday, prevents his arrest until December 9th in cases related to allegedly objectionable posts on his ‘X’ account. The posts, featuring morphed photos and posters of N. Chandrababu Naidu, K. Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh, were reportedly made in December 2023 and February 2024 to promote Varma’s film, *Vyuham*.
Varma’s lawyer argued that the posts were protected under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and expression. The court will hear the case further on December 9th.
