**Chennai, December 3, 2024** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is celebrating its 150th Foundation Day by launching a national online quiz competition, the Met-Olympiad. This initiative aims to increase student awareness and enthusiasm about weather and climate science.
Open to students in classes 8, 9, and 11, the competition will be held at both state and national levels. Registration is open until December 10th at https://mausam.imd.gov.in/met-oly/. The state-level quiz will take place on December 14th and 15th, consisting of a one-hour online test. Study materials and sample questions are available online.
The national-level competition is scheduled for January 14th, 2025. Winners from each state and union territory, along with the national winner, will be recognized and invited to participate in a workshop and the IMD’s 150th Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 15th, 2025.
