HYDERABAD, December 3, 2024 – Former Telangana minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T. Harish Rao has been booked by Hyderabad’s Panjagutta police in a new phone-tapping case. The case follows a complaint by businessman Gadhagoni Chakradhar Goud, who alleges threats, false cases, and unauthorized surveillance by Harish Rao and his associates. Former DCP R. Radhakrishna Rao has also been named in the complaint.
This latest development comes amidst an ongoing investigation into a separate phone-tapping scandal linked to the previous BRS government. That investigation, sparked by a complaint filed in March 2024, has already led to the arrest of former DSP Praneeth Rao. The ongoing inquiries have prompted the Telangana High Court (HC) to issue notices to both the Union and State governments, expressing grave concern over the issue of widespread telephone tapping. The HC’s action highlights the serious nature of the allegations and the ongoing investigations into the alleged misuse of surveillance powers.
