**Ranchi, Jharkhand –** Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren convened a high-level meeting on Monday to address the financial implications of the INDIA bloc’s seven election guarantees. The meeting, Soren’s first departmental review since assuming his fourth term, prioritized boosting revenue collection to fund the ambitious promises.
Soren instructed officials to accelerate revenue generation and explore new sources, directing all departments to create action plans for increased revenue collection. He highlighted the need for improved coordination between departments to avoid delays and missed targets, emphasizing the need for micro-level observation to identify and rectify flaws in the current system.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of optimizing revenue-generating agencies and corporations within various departments, suggesting they be established as business models to expand operations and increase state revenue. Furthermore, Soren called for a system to track Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds spent by industries within the state, ensuring transparency and accountability.
The INDIA bloc’s guarantees include the Maiya Samman Scheme providing ₹2,500, subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹450 per family, increased ration quantities, employment for 10 lakh youngsters, comprehensive family health coverage, and increased Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for crops. The need to fund these initiatives fueled the urgent focus on revenue generation. The meeting was attended by key officials including Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari and Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar.
